Outgoing Deerfield High School principal remembers her tenure fondly
When Deerfield High School Principal Audris Griffith looks back at her five years leading the institution, she is reminded of a string of pearls. Griffith, who enters her sixth and final year at Deerfield High School when the 2014-15 terms starts Aug. 27, considers a chain of events as the highlight of her time here. “I see a series of vignettes which stand out like pearls in the strand of the last five years,” Griffith said. They combine to form what she hopes will be her legacy.

Taj Gibson coaches kids at Deerfield’s Joy of the Game
Nine year-old Chase Blanchard has been shooting hoops since he was five. A member of Joy of the Game’s travel team, basketball is “Chase’s sport,” according to his dad, Pat. That’s why the Glenview family didn’t hesitate to sign Chase up when they heard about the upcoming Taj Gibson Basketball ProCamp at Joy of the Game, Deerfield’s basketball training facility. “Joy of the Game runs really good camps. They’re organized, and the coaches are quality coaches who connect with the kids,” said Pat. “But Taj was a huge attraction.”
