As of Thursday afternoon, the Deerfield Public Library board has not yet named a tentative site for temporary quarters, though library trustees had expected to announce a decision today.
The Library Board met Wednesday night to review aspects of a proposed lease, but is still negotiating certain points, Library Director Mary Pergander said.
The board now plans to name its temporary location Tuesday, Feb. 7, she said.
The board has been negotiating with the owners of two sites for the best possible price.
Both spaces under consideration are about 20,000 square feet, significantly smaller than the 32,000-square-foot facility the library’s collections are housed in now.
The present library building at 920 N. Waukegan Road will be vacated and gutted.
The Library Board hopes to move into its temporary quarters between mid-May and the end of May, and stay about a year to accommodate the construction.
