About 30 local professionals from GCG Financial took to wheelchairs Tuesday at the Joy of the Game Foundation in Deerfield.
The group competed in wheelchair basketball, wheelchair sprints, sitting volleyball and a visually-impaired race as part of The Hartford’s Achieve Without Limits campaign, according to a release on the event.
U.S. Paralympian Jeremy “Opie” Lade also shared his story and participated in the games. Lade was injured in a car accident in 1989, and was introduced to adaptive sports through a summer camp at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at the age of 13.
