Three file for Bannockburn District 106 board vacancy

Updated: March 17, 2012 8:20AM

Three candidates will be interviewed Wednesday for one available seat on the Bannockburn District 106 School Board.

All three are women and at least one may have an educational background, but Superintendent JoAnn Desmond would not release the names of the candidates.

“Two have children who are no longer at Bannockburn School, and one has children in the school and will have children in the school,” Desmond said. “They represent people who care about education and have a high level of interest in quality education.”

Candidates interested in an open seat on the board were asked to submit an application and a resume to the school office by Feb. 7.

The position became vacant when Ann DuBois, who served 13 years on the board, submitted her resignation before the end of her four-year term, citing family matters. The board expects to have a replacement appointed at its Feb. 15 meeting.

The person appointed to sit on the seven-member board will serve until spring, when elections decide the seat for the next term.

“The person who will be chosen for the position will not have a special agenda, but an interest in education for all the children,” Desmond said.
