DEERFIELD — Deerfield Public School District 109 and the Deerfield Public Library will both have contested elections on April 9.
When the filing deadline passed at 5 p.m. Dec. 26, five candidates had submitted nominating papers for four open seats on the District 109 School Board.
Incumbent board member Ron Worth will be challenged by Katie Bittner, Scott Kluge, Joel Kogen and Sari Montgomery.
School Board President Ellen London and board members Michael Rosenbaum and Deborah Muller are not seeking re-election.
Cathy Kedjidjian, coordinator of communications and public relations for District 109, reported that all five School Board candidates submitted the necessary paperwork when the filing period opened Dec. 17, and are considered “simultaneous filers.” Ballot placement will be determined by a lottery at the District Center, 517 Deerfield Road, Kedjidjian explained.
The Library race pits three candidates against each other for open two seats.
Incumbents Michael Goldberg and Mary Courtney are challenged by Baram Avraham.
