Deerfield Finance Director Robert Fialkowski provided members of the Village Board with good and bad news Monday.
Retails sales for the first quarter of the year were ahead of last year, but, he noted, the full impact of Lake Cook Road construction on businesses has not yet show up in the numbers. He said there were positive signs in the home-improvement sector in the village, which could be good for Home Depot.
Barbara Little, director of public works and engineering, said this year’s storms have resulted in overtime hours and in some projects being delayed. But, she said, no safety hazards are going unaddressed. She also proposed the buying of a new dump truck for the village and a brush chipper, for a combined cost of less than $150,000.
