NSUW, in partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, helps support 35 North Shore agencies and 35,000 families in the 18-community region. Across Chicagoland, United Way is helping transform communities of greatest need through the organization’s 10-year vision, LIVE UNITED 2020. Over the next decade United Way will: ensure 100,000 families advance their economic stability, 50,000 under-performing middle school students enter high school ready to succeed, and 200,000 individuals have access to available, preventative health care. As part of LIVE UNITED 2020, NSUW unveiled its education initiative in fall 2011, which provided more than $450,00 in large grants to Evanston and Highland/Highwood Park agencies serving early learners (children ages 0-5 years) and middle school students.
