Cygnus is a scruffy terrier with huge soulful brown eyes. His rough coat probably means that he is fairly non-allergic and won’t shed much. He certainly is a lover.

At the shelter, Cygnus seemed very stressed and didn’t calm down until a person came into sight. For that reason, he is presently living in a foster home where he has proven to be a complete gentleman.

He doesn’t bark, he gets along with the children and the other dogs, and he just wants to be around people.

Because of the fact that he hates being alone, the folks at Save-A-Pet feel that Cygnus would do better in a home where he wouldn’t be left alone all day. Perhaps someone with a part-time job or a person who works from home? He does fine when alone for a half a day.

Because he is in foster care, please call Save-A-Pet at the number below to arrange a visit.

It’s because of committed families who offer to foster dogs that many dogs on death row in kill shelters are saved. Every family willing to shelter a dog even for a short time is literally saving a life. If you don’t want a commitment of years, think in terms of weeks or months. Fostering is a great way to get a dog or cat “fix” without the expense of adopting.

Save-A-Pet is committed to saving animals without the killing. They take in animals from many sources and the volunteers work with dogs. While you’re at Save-a-Pet, make a donation if you can. The cats and dogs there will appreciate it.

Save-A-Pet is a not-for-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to finding loving, quality homes for each cat and dog in its care. Pets are sheltered indefinitely. The shelter strives to create an environment which enhances both awareness of and support for the humane treatment of animals. Save-A-Pet is located at 31664 North Fairfield Road, Grayslake. Their phone number is: (847) 740-7788 and their email address is www.save-a-pet-il.org. You can also see their animals at www.petfinder.com.

Pet of the Week is written by Pamela Kramer. You may also email any animal questions to me at Pamanimalrescue@gmx.com. If you adopted through Pet of the Week and want to let me know how your dog or cat is doing, please send me an email!

Remember: Adopt a dog or cat! There are tens of thousands of homeless animals in the Chicago area alone that are waiting for a loving home. Here are some of the places to visit when looking for a family addition.
