U.S. Congressmen Robert J. Dold (R-10th) joined with No Labels, a group of Republican, Democrat and Independent citizens, this week and called on Congress to put politics aside and start getting things done.
As a proponent of government transparency, accountability and efficiency, Dold joined a group of bipartisan lawmakers and called for an end to the gridlock so that Congress could come together and find solutions to the problems facing Americans today.
“We are facing an enormous fiscal crisis,” said Dold. “Our nation’s debt is skyrocketing, we are running trillion-dollar deficits, and a budget hasn’t been passed by the Senate in (more than) 900 days.
“This highlights the problem we are facing today. We need to stop looking for reasons to not work together and start pushing forward bipartisan ideas that will address the problems we face with common-sense solutions.
Dold said he has worked tirelessly to reach across the aisle and get things done and he continues to call on his colleagues for bipartisan action on jobs and the economy. The congressman noted that nearly every bill he has introduced has received bipartisan support.
He has introduced House Resolution 3332, the Truth in Government Accounting Act, which is a bipartisan bill calling on Congress to have an open and transparent budget. He has participated in bipartisan seating during the State of the Union and said he is listed as one of top most independent representatives in Congress.
